Transitional Toddler Room (Boy)

Posted By mrspiecemaker on Mar 29, 2012 at 10:16AM

My son was 2.5 years old when I decided to decorate his room. I wanted to focus on one main play area where he could have easy, reachable access to his toys. Every now and then I switch around the toys on the shelves to make sure he doesn't get bored.

Nautical Nursery Do-Over

Posted By Krista Moatz on Oct 19, 2010 at 3:31PM

I spent about four solid months meticulously planning out my baby boy's perfect nautical themed nursery. It was a tiny storage room, but I was able to turn it to a very cute and very functional nursery complete with a beautiful mural (See the Before and After here). Nate lived in it for exactly four weeks when we decided to move, so it was bye bye beautiful nursery. Tragic. So tragic that the first thing people would ask me when I said we were moving was "but what about the mural in the nursery, are you going to have it repainted?" I kept saying "No, it's not worth it, it won't the same." I believed this for about four months until I could no longer stand it. So here it is, Nautical Nursery Take 2.

Revamp Baby's Room With These Models as Inspiration

Posted By babysugar on Oct 10, 2010 at 7:00AM

A lil one's room is more than just a bedroom. It's a playroom, a place to sleep, and a room to read. Before kids are born, moms spend hours picking out the perfect crib and decor. When the child is ready to move into a bed, it's time to revamp. Our LilSugar Community members are proud of the rooms they've created so it's time to show them off!

Fancy Little Me Portraits

Posted By babysugar on Aug 10, 2010 at 11:30AM

Your lil one's portrait has never looked so cool. While plenty of living room walls are covered in traditional family photos, Fancy Little Me converts the boring old portrait into a modern work of art. After sending the company a few of your favorite photos, and selecting a design style (such as the denim one shown here), artists get to work creating a custom image that adds some style to the wall. Based in Australia, Fancy Little Me offers international customers a poster-like option (starting at $161) that is ready for framing as soon as it arrives – about two weeks after the photos are received. The living room never looked so hip, and your tot never looked so abstract!

A Whale of a Time in Baby's Nursery

Baby Beluga in the deep blue sea, swimming right into the nursery! The beloved marine mammals have a presence under the sea and in lil one's lairs with their beautiful tails and spouting blowholes. The creatures are a welcome addition to wee ones' nurseries and seem to be popping up everywhere. Check out these marine-inspired items.

Isabel's Elegant Black, White, and Pink Nursery

Posted By schnappycat on Jun 22, 2010 at 12:54PM

After having a son, I was thrilled for the opportunity to decorate for a girl. I wanted to create a feminine space, but also one that wasn't too babyish. Pink was always planned, but I loved the black and white damask print to balance it out. I fell in love with the artwork and the other "fashionable" touches naturally followed. I like that it has an elegant French feel, but isn't overtly French in style.

Lil Community: Revamping Aidan’s Not-so-Kiddie Pad

Posted By babysugar on Jun 10, 2010 at 1:00PM

When lil boys move beyond snips and snails their lairs often need an upgrade too. Lil Community member Intbyfrancesca helped a 7-year-old boy transition a small bare space into a sophisticated room with plenty of space to store his abundance of toys. She shared the transformation in our Revamping Baby's Room group.

We started with a mature gray – Whitestone 2134-60 – for the walls and Hale Navy HC-154 for the accent wall then layered bold fun accessories to keep it youthful and energetic. By incorporating a window bench with drawer storage we maximized the space and created a wonderful nook for reading or just hanging. The twin loft bed from Stanley's Young America collection allows a desk and dresser underneath and keeps the room uncluttered, polished and functional. We used replaceable Flor carpet tiles as the rug and indoor/outdoor water resistant fabric on the bench so if an accidental chocolate milk spills it's no biggie. Style Tiles from PB Teen keeps Aidan organized with play date schedules, birthday invitations and cool pics of his buddies.
